I’ve told you guys time and time again that this is a brunch stan blog! LOL! I’m not joking when I say there’s a brunch culture. Where else is it acceptable to have 4 mimosas by noon…and not get judged? When you guys find the place let me know.
I had the pleasure of dining at Tupelo Honey, Charlotte not too long ago and I was greeted with fresh fluffy (but still had the crispy top) biscuits and blackberry jam.
The insides were fluffy and the outsides crispy and buttery. The blackberry jam had just the right amount of sweetness and tang.
I have never had goat cheese in my grits before but this dish with fried green tomatoes and red pepper coulis (I had to google coulis…I’m learning things for us all lol) had me rethinking my grits recipe.
We always have to order a side of brussel sprouts for brunch (we are adults after all). None the less the crispy brussel sprouts paired with the blue cheese dressing *chefs kiss.
Trying to get me, a Southern woman, not to order shrimp and grits (or catfish and grits) when out for brunch is like pulling teeth. It’s hard to do! The combination of the spicy tomato sauce, juicy shrimp and salty chorizo kind of puts you in a cozy food slumber.
Never have I ever ordered an omelette for brunch but, if they start coming filled with 2 kinds of salty pork, pimento cheese, fried green tomatoes, AND jalapeno…I just may start.
Oh! Can’t forget about the potato cracklins, crispy crunch exterior with soft fluffy potato goodness on the inside.
The winner winner chicken dinner meal for me was absolutely the Chicken and biscuits.
All things Southern come in this dish: biscuits and gravy, country ham, fried chicken, topped with an over easy egg. After popping the yolk and mixing it with your gravy, prepare for a real food coma!
Consider this a warning, North Carolina has some of the best food to offer, be prepared to bring your sweatpants when you visit!
